Kalmar ranks among the top 1% globally for sustainability with an EcoVadis Platinum Medal
Delivering on our vision to be the forerunner in sustainable material handling: EcoVadis awards Kalmar its top-tier Platinum medal for global sustainability performance.
A peak performance in sustainability
Kalmar has officially been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum medal for 2026, placing the company in the top 1% of evaluated businesses globally.
Building on last year's Gold medal rating, Kalmar’s ongoing commitment to high operational standards has earned it the highest medal tier bestowed by EcoVadis, reflecting verified and measurable action across our global operations.
EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, evaluating over 130,000 companies globally across four core pillars: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Business Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
Sami Niiranen, President and CEO, Kalmar:
Earning the EcoVadis Platinum medal is a powerful endorsement of our vision to be the forerunner in sustainable material handling equipment and services. This achievement shows our customers that by partnering with Kalmar, they are aligning with a business that upholds the highest ethical, social, and environmental standards across its entire value chain. I would like to thank everyone across our global team whose daily actions made this outstanding result possible.
A responsible partner
In today’s global market, sustainability is no longer an added benefit, it is a core requirement for doing business. For port terminal operators, distribution centers, and industrial customers, Kalmar’s EcoVadis Platinum rating provides verified proof of operational integrity across all key ESG dimensions. The results highlight verified operational progress and tangible value for global supply chains across all four assessment pillars:
- Environment: Kalmar leads the industry's energy transition through its expanding Eco Portfolio, heavy equipment electrification, and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) aligned decarbonization roadmaps, enabling customers to significantly lower lifecycle emissions.
- Labor & Human Rights: Through global safety culture programs, occupational health frameworks, and human rights due diligence across its value chain, Kalmar assures partners that equipment is designed with operator safety at its core and manufactured in safe, fair, and inclusive workplaces.
- Business Ethics: Kalmar enforces strict anti-corruption policies, continuous code-of-conduct training, and robust data protection protocols, delivering total commercial transparency, ethical governance, and high-level information security across all customer touchpoints.
- Sustainable Procurement: Kalmar drives value-chain responsibility through active collaboration with global supply chain partners. Enforcing a comprehensive Supplier Code of Conduct and systematic ESG risk assessments ensures components and parts are responsibly sourced, mitigating upstream risks and simplifying vendor compliance for global clients.
While earning the highest EcoVadis medal tier is a major achievement, Kalmar views this outcome not as a final destination, but as a reflection of its everyday operational standards.
Moving forward, we will continue to push industry boundaries, investing in eco-efficient equipment, zero-emission technology, and circular services to lead the transformational shift toward sustainable material handling worldwide.
